Two programs. Different roles.
Helping households pay rent
Section 8 vouchers provide rental assistance to eligible households, helping them rent homes in the private market.
Financing affordable homes
The Low-Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) helps finance income-qualified, rent-restricted housing. Tax credit equity investors receive credits against federal income tax.
Section 42 housing does not automatically include Section 8 rental assistance.
